Here is the complete description of Sunday's Mountain Bike ride around Black Canyon in the Ramona area.
This description includes the new meeting point.
April 29, 8:30 AM, BLACK CANYON (NEW Trailhead)
Rating: Advanced, 20 miles
Trailhead: Black Mountain Road Ramona, take 67 and turn left just north of Ramona onto Magnolia Road which turns into Black Canyon road. Go past the Ranger Station and turn left on Ramona Real to park.
This ride is on fire roads and pavement. We'll go out Black Mountain road to the new bridge and follow Black Canyon over to Pama Valley to loop around on the road.
Frank, I'm a roadie, but have been on Black Canyon a couple of times. How are you getting from Black Canyon to Pauma Valley? On the dirt I presume. Do you have a map of this? Thanks.....
Burton,
The ride goes down Black Canyon Road taking the left just past the bridge onto Santa Ysabel Truck Trail which is dirt. That goes to Black Mountain Truck Trail. A right at that point takes you to the top of Black Mountain on a 3 mile dirt climb. This weekend's ride will go left at Black Mountain to connect with Pamo Road to take the pavement back to the cars.

Burt - It's easy to get Pamo and Pauma discombobulated. The route Frank plans, I believe, takes Black Canyon the way we've done up to Mesa Grande, but it looks like it then loops west over to Pamo Road, by
Pamo Valley. That's a nice route which I learned in Jerry Schaad's Cycling San Diego, 2nd Edition. You should go ride with them if you want to try something a little new.
