Title: Rideshare for Sunday 5/27 Laguna ride?
Post by: wbturek@yahoo.com on May 19, 2012, 05:30:00 PM
I'll be heading out from Escondido and can either take two others or a spot in someone elses. Am open to lunch afterwards.

Good luck to all doing the Laguna ride this weekend.
Not doing it myself for two reasons, hate steep hills and it's going to be too hot/sunny mid-day.
Staying on coast where it's nice'n'cool and flat!

Nerius,

When did you stop liking steep hills? Have you done the pine valley ride before? It's a great ride. I won't be doing it either for a  different reason. I'm sure Karl will put in the rotation again this year  - just for me   :) .

You call a 3 mile hill at 20 percent great?  Not with 39x25 gearing, a steel frame, and 176 pounds of flesh to carry up!

Think about the road, no cars, great scenery. This is not a race, nor some macho contest. We all can make it up those pitches, some just need to be a little more patient. Just one of the best rides we do, in my opinion. Finally, it's the only ride where I know I can get a hand-made chocolate shake in a steel-container with an extra half glass to soothe away any difficulties encountered during the ride.

Thanks for the encouragement Karl.
I had a look at the profile on Strava.  Apparently it goes over 10 percent only for a little bit, so it may not be that bad.
Also, the temperatures won't be above about 80 according to the forecast.
So I might do it after all.

Nerius,

I really don't think this would be a problem for you. It is really a nice ride (wish I was going).

C'mon Nerius, do for both Anthonys, since I can't go either, we're looking for colleges for my son and doing some sight seeing.  Alcatraz and redwoods look out.  I wish I was going on this ride too.

Anthony, get well soon and hope to see you when you're back on the road.

Mr. Scozzari - Check out Berkeley!  Awesome school!

Mr. Smith - I think I can make it up the steep hill but it's a question of how much I want to hurt myself.  Monday is a holiday too and I wanna ride.
