New clothing order anytime soon?
Just my two cents but.............it is time for a clothing overhaul. I recommend a NCCC kit redo. Unfortunately, I have no artistic creativity and was lucky to pass finger painting in kindergarden so I cannot take up the cause. But I do know we have a very, very artistic (Jeff), creative (Jeff) long rider that would be the perfect person (Jeff) to design a new kit.
Anyone wanna guess who that person is?
Anyone agree it's time for change?
Yes, I totally agree with the nomination of Jeff. He would be perfect for redesigning our new kit. Sean, you came up with a great idea!
Ursula
Can we get the pink kits back please?
Look I'll be out of commission for a while but I don't need to see Nerius and Frank both in pink kits, sounds very disturbing. I'm all for the cause and comfortable in a nice power pink tie but I don't know about wearing pink Lycra
Just say'n
If Jeff is the designer we may end up with 101 Dalmation "spots" or 3D bike parts hanging from every which way ...which may be esthetically pleasing but not so comfy after 50 or so miles. Some people may enjoy the added hardware but probably just a handfull. The other problem is if any of the artsy bike parts fell off the outfits, Anthony would run over it and crash. ....I like the idea of PINK as long as it compliments La Marader.
Ouch!
My two cents- 2013 redesign would be nice but I would settle for better quality bib shorts (even if they were pink)....
Listen....lycra is bad enough for an all American male to wear in public....lets reserve the pink kits for girls, Frank and the Pink Marauder. But I do think Evelyn is on to something, creating wearable bike parts. Imagine for a moment how practical this will be for Anthony as he pops spokes like pain killers he could just remove one from his wearable bike parts jersey and we would be on our way.
Jeff.......any comments on your nomination for the art committee chair?
Ha, I appreciate the vote of artistic confidence and the very humorous banter back and forth. For the record I think pink is a fine color. In fact I'll by painting with it on my next project, and it dose involve bikes. That should keep you all guessing.
Sean, we can review you design ideas tomorrow on the ride. See you at 8.
Evelyn is so right, any design I might make would have king of the mountain Dalmation "spots". Good night...

You can have mine. After the mean comments from Ursula, Evelyn and Sean last week, I won't wear it again. I was almost hit by a car as I wiped away the tears on my ride home.
Frank we all know where u were riding back from
....
Shawn I'm thinking maybe the Club shirt u were wearing today with some peddle pushers might work...You may want to contact LuLuleamon as a potential sponsor... I know they make running skirts, not sure about cycling ....
I like the better padding, fit & design for shorts that Skidding Anthony brought up.Smart
Eventually I'd like to do 400 mile road events every weekend. With enough padding chamie and spandex there's no logical reason this couldn't be done.... Maybe memory foam?
Hey all of you long riders. Lou here. Membership and clothing guy.
I am getting quite a few queries for clothing from the regular group as well. So I guess it's time to contact Voler and see what we can do.
Minimums are 15 pieces as always. Prices may change (upwards no doubt). But we should get a discount for ordering during the off-season.
I am also receiving requests for the pink kit. This will be a seperate order requiring the 15 piece minimum as well. A hotter pink was suggested in place of the blue and fading to white just like we have now. I'll leave that up to those of you that want that kit. But I will have to eventually make the final color call. So talk amongst yourselves and give me something to work with. I'll post the pink kit color selection via email blast. We will have an opportunity to change the color up to a certain point. I believe that Dolores Wells was driving the pink kit before. Maybe.......
We do not have sponsors other than Voler and Mac-Case (our kit designer). A sponsorless kit, although a bit more expensive, seems to be what most of you like. It is kind of a clean look.
New design? I'll send out an email blast and try to get a consensus.
So, if you are not a club member, you probably won't receive the email blast. Tell your friends. Hint. Hint. Look for it soon.
Questions??? Go ahead ask me.
More to come.
Lou...
The pink outfits are reserved for the experienced, serious, and fast riders!
If you're not experienced, serious, and fast you are not allowed to wear the pink outfit!
I'm kinda diggin the kit Anthony has on in his hospital pic. Perhaps a few more buttons/velcro in the back though.
Lou...
"We have decided that 2013 requires a new NCCC kit! And we need your help.
Anthony Smith, a long rider, has volunteered to lead this task." (-Lou)
So, pink kit? I think it would go well with the green socks.
I might add that I presume that the people who initially started the thread on the new order and design and have followed up with replies... will volunteer to help Anthony out. Anthony has initiated more work behind the scenes, on his own, than most are even aware of. This is a lot of work and the more the merrier. Plus, each volunteer will get their say. If you don't work or help out, you have no right to grouse when the order comes in and you don't like the new design, the fit, the chamois, the shade of pink, the on-line ordering system, method of delivery, ... So, it's "walk the talk."
Pink??? :o
The plan is to have one design with alternate coloring. We want the pink ladies in on the design from the beginning ;)
Karl I love you. Lou is just giving me a bad time. He'll look really cute in PINK on the tandem :D
I will help with obtaining a sponsor. And would like to be in on the design.
I can't see pink. What did she say??? What did she say??? :o
Unable to reach Anthony via email and I have not been added to "the list", so I'll just post my finding here I guess.
Anthony Smith gave me the go-ahead to do a little research into
possibly getting our new 2013 NCCC kit designed with the optimal artistic
taste in mind.
Joe (Joeseph) Yule is a designer of kits. I found out about him after
I asked some Swami's riders who designed their 2013 kit.
I just got off the phone with Joe.
Charge is 800 dollars for him to design our kit.
We can recommend colors and of course sponsors/logos, he'll make 3 designs
that are all different. Will show us all three then will make modifications
until we're happy, we choose one design. His images showing the design will
have a "3D model" computer generated image.
He owns a cycling clothing line (similar to Capo in quality, according to
him) called Stage 1 Cycling. So instead of using Voler or Pactimo (for
example) to make our clothing for us we could use him directly. That way
the 800 dollar fee would be "absorbed" by the clothing fees. I asked him
which clubs use Stage 1 Cycling for their kits and he listed several clubs,
mostly in the Midwest or near the Los Angeles area (I think he's from LA or
thereabouts). I did not recognize any clubs down here that use Stage 1
Cycling for their clothing. Might be a gamble without knowing more.
However, here is what Swami's did for 2013 kits. They used Joe to design
their kit and they use Capo (I think) for their clothing manufacture.
The 2013 Swami's kit is hands-down the best kit I've seen on the road.
I have a feeling that if we use Joe to design our kit and then use a
manufacturer such as Capo (don't know how expensive that would be), we'd
have a good-looking kit.

As long as the shorts are (mostly)black...
I'm curious to know what's wrong with the current kit. It's pretty nice, basic, good design. I was happy with the ordering system and I like Voler stuff. Capo is nice and I'm willing to spend the extra money with them as long as we get a full fit kit. I'll go ahead and put it out there now - I vote no for Canari. They seem to use crap fabrics. Also, unless we are looking for a full redesign of kit, including a new club logo and color scheme, 800$ seems steep to me, especially if he only takes recommendations, not specifications, on colors and logos. I'm going to check in on a few possible sponsors this weekend, and I'm willing to help out on design, but my aesthetics in kit might be a bit old fashioned. IMO, the jerseys we had made up for SDR last year are the best looking kit on the road.

Nerius, I did recieve an e-mail from you however not as detailed, as your posting. Thanks for the research, good job (I will grab the details from the posting).
robertkat, I agree that shorts should be mostly black.
But I *ahem* [without wanting to insult anyone that may have had a part in the design] don't think the current NCCC kit is the best looking on the road. *ahem*
Although I haven't had my kit on lately, I know I've had a number of folks say they thought our kit was one of, if not the best, looking kits out there. Just say'n and I (may have no taste) tend to agree but I have 2 sets of the current and can't wait to see the masterpiece which will be put together.
I do wonder though, how many cooks do we currently have in the kitchen?
Anthony, if you need additional helpers ( I'll chop the veges or take the trash out) let me know. As my wife can attest to, I can't cook anyway and I take orders well.
Signed - titanium man
I endorse whatever Anthony Smith thinks is best. I trust his judgement.
Of more concern is Anthony Scozzari's cooking skills. I think it's clear we can only trust one Anthony with the job :)
I hope that a new vendor will be seriously looked at. Agreeing with Anthony that we DO need a better quality bib! I am a firm believer in Pactimo and as I mentioned to Lou via Email, would be happy to facilitate the contract/purchases.
Anthony takes orders well? Thought you fell on your hip, not your head!
Wanted to put my $0.02 in and share that I like the current design in both yellow/blue and pink, Voler California-made product, and would love to have the chance to pick up another pair of shorts and a jersey or two as inexpensively as possible.
In other words, I'm good with hope, but would like to keep the change (from paying for design or more expensive kit) in my pocket.
