Hello everyone,
I want to let the club know about a new bike event, called "Bike 4 Mike" coming to North County this fall. I am the founder and director of this event and have been planning it for close to 3 years now, following my friends diagnosis of ALS (Lou Gerhig's Disease). The event will start and finish at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and have 10, 25, and 50 mile rides. Participants will get free parking at the fairgrounds, a mexican fiesta lunch, a beer garden, fun music, nice tee shirts and a finishers metal. We are planning to make this a fun, annual event to support the cause of raising funds for medical reseach in hopes of someday finding a cure for ALS. We are opening registrations starting this coming week at www.teamgodfather.org/bike4mike. You can also register directly through www.active.com. I saw your full page ad in the most recent Competitor Magazine. It looked great, nice job and great cause. It's clear you have put a lot of work and thought into the event.
You might ask Karl to post your ride on the front page of our website to get more coverage and hopefully there will be a good showing of NCCC members supporting the cause.

Thanks Sean, and yes the event has proven to be almost a full time job for me, but it's all good. I've got almost 3 years of thoughts and planning into this and it's getting close to game time. We've just had a very nice article published in the Ranch Review and Del Mar Times newspapers on Mike's background and the Bike 4 Mike event. We also have some radio spot ads coming out soon as well on KPRI radio. Sponsors have been coming on board and donations are going very well. It's exciting and I apprciate your feedback. We are raising the awareness of the ALS disease weekly.
My only one regret is that I havent done one single club ride for what seems like 2 months now. I'll be back after the November 4th ride. No I won't be riding it myself as I'll have a full plate. Thanks for your interest and I will contact Karl to see if it can get some more club exposure.
