This is just a quick gauge to make sure no effort is wasted in the next jersey order. Should we go with a new kit design, other vendors besides Voler will be considered (quality is foremost, but ease of ordering, low minimum restrictions, and delivery are also high priority considerations). Note that use of sponsors could reduce costs from 10-25% based on past history with sponsors on our jerseys. Anthony Smith is coordinating putting together three committees: 1. vendor selection; 2. kit design; 3. sponsor coordination. Note that any kit design will simply be a variation on the current theme, with 2 color schemes - traditional blue/yellow; jazzy pink/grey. If the consensus is to stick with the current design and Voler, then committees are unnecessary and Lou is all set to re-open the Voler store which will require 15-piece minimums to kick off a re-order of the current NC3 design (part of the reason for a new vendor is much smaller minimum orders, and one vendor even allows one-at-a-time once we're in their system and personal mail delivery - a great deal for new members who just joined and would like to have a kit).

Note: Voting will be locked Friday, Sept 28 at 8pm, so please vote before then if you wish your opinion to be factored in.

I'd like to see a sample of the 3 options before picking one.

Option 1 is the current kit. This poll is to decide on which way to go before we have any new alternatives. We can't work on all three and show you what the final product would look like, as this is done by volunteers only, and we're trying to avoid doing extra work. If you'd like to go beyond the current kit, vote for one of the other two, and only then will there be something to look at. If the last option is what the majority wants, a sponsorship committee needs to gather sponsors, artwork from each sponsor, and mesh that with an actual design.

Please just vote in the poll as it is harder to count votes via Reply (although you can certainly Reply with comments about this whole business). To vote in the poll, you need to make sure that you login to the Forum here with the username and password you use for signing up and renewing your NCCC membership (old Message Board usernames will allow you to post, but not vote in polls  :o). See [note:] at the top of this thread for more details if you have forgotten that username and/or password.

Title: option 1 with current ads removed also

Option 1

I would prefer current ads for the jersey manufacturer and Mac Case be removed also

Voler charges a premium price and splashes their logo on the kit. Their shorts don't stand up to frequent washing. Mac Case can only be removed if we change the design, he designed the current kit in exchange for having his logo on it. For a clean kit we will have to have a new design and a vendor willing to forgo placing their logo on the kit.

I agree that the shorts don't hold up. That's why I voted for a new kit although I have no problems with the graphics or jersey.

Title: Price estimate for sponsor savings
Post by: Jeff Gross on September 22, 2012, 05:24:32 PM
Could we get an estimate of what the savings per jersey would be if we had sponsors?
What was the per jersey price when we had sponsors?
What was the per jersey price when we had no sponsors?

Jeff - for the 2007 order, we had about $3000 in sponsor donations and our total order, with the sponsor donations figured in, was about $10,000. It would have been approximately $13,000 without sponsors. You can do the math.

John - We had a meeting at 1pm today at the Coffee House to organize things. If you'd like to participate on the sponsor committe, please contact Dolores who is coordinating the sponsorship end of things. In the past, bike shop sponsors have asked that no other bike shop be allowed to be on the jersey as well, so if we consider multiple bike shops, it needs to be done with care.

The voting seems to have converged, but before we make a decision based on 41 votes (~23% of active members), we want to make sure you've had your say if it matters to you. Voting will be locked Friday, Sept 28 at 8pm.

Having no experience with the durability of the kits and no objection to sponsor logos I would go with #1.
Thanks for asking.

I would like to see a new kit design and sponsorship allow, possibly a controlled number of sponsors. Tom Hicks
