Title: Two steel Fuji framesets
Post by: Don MacLeod on March 06, 2013, 09:05:16 AM
I would like to sell two steel Fuji framesets.  Trying here first…
(1) A 1984 Team Fuji, 56 x 56 cm c2c. Rear dropouts spaced to 130 mm. Has plenty of little blemishes and rust spots, nothing terribly unsightly. Fuji’s best tubing of the day; the bike was light for its time and seems fast for its weight. Smooth, stiff and predictable. Will someone demonstrate a proper respect for this frame’s faded glamor  by paying  $75 for it?
Headset, seatpost and a scuffed saddle or two can be thrown in. For an extra $25 or so, a near-new bottom bracket (Campy taper, origin 8, < 100 miles) can be added. I could also spare the 1st generation Mavic Heliums (still quite serviceable, but the rear has a couple of cracked eyelets that occasionally produce clicking noises, and may have stiff or stuck nipples: $80 for the pair?),  Chorus crankset (53/39, 172.5mm, newish chainrings, asking $45), Look or Time RSX pedals…..
(2) A recent retro frameset, vintage 2010,  st 50 c2c  and 54 c2t, tt 55 c2c, Reynolds 725 tubing. Nice smooth welds. Fairly aggressive geometry, but accepts 28 mm tires (if no fenders) and calls for standard reach brakes (installed). Pretty much new condition although it has about 1000 miles.  Asking $150 with installed World Class bottom bracket (a nice unit made in California featuring a titanium tapered spindle and freedom of lateral positioning to optimize the chainline).
I’m not expecting a feeding frenzy here…likely enough, most members have too many extra bikes like this already. But I’ll leave this up for a month or two before resorting to Craigslist. I can show these in Solana Beach, or by arrangement at a ride start.
