Title: road racing bike wanted
Post by: nige on November 20, 2007, 03:09:34 AM
I'll be over from England in December visiting my sister-in-law in Vista and want to buy a second hand road bike to use so I can join the North County Cycle Club rides. I can leave the bike there for future visits and forget all the hassle of having to transport, hire or borrow a bike (all of which I've done in the past).

Frame size on a horizontal top tube around 57 or 58 cm (22 1/2 inches) from the middle of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat lug. I'm 5 foot 11 inches tall so any medium size bike with a sloping top tube should work. I don't mind dents, scratches or rust, so long as it's mechanically in good condition - good bearings, wheels, tyres, chain and sprockets so I don't waste time working on it when I get there - anyway, I wouldn't have the tools to do anything major. Age is also no problem - I like bikes from the 70's and 80's. But something lightweight. Getting back up Gopher Canyon when you're tired on the way home can be a bit of a challenge.
