Comrades!
I hope to have a good size group this Saturday for the 3rd installment of the training rides leading up to the century next month. Dont forget - we leave at 8 for this one. I want to address a few things about the route that riders should know in advance, should I fail to mention at the start. There will be two breaks. The first stop is in La Jolla at the end of La Jolla Shores, at the Encon service station. The store has lots of goodies, and there is also a Starbucks and some other things. The second break will be at Stumps in RSF. Upon leaving La Jolla, there is a nice climb out, and we will regroup at the top before turning onto Torrey Pines. Upon entering the 56 bike path, I would like to have a "rolling regroup", that is, relax the pace and go easy to allow any big gaps to lessen. This first section of the path heading East can be narrow with blind corners, so it's best to reduce your speed and go easy, enjoy the scenery. We will probably regroup after the turn onto Citracado after Del Dios Hwy as well.
Note: I'm not sure of the status of the Torrey Pines bridge south out of Del Mar. I know it has been closed off and on lately, so be prepared for a possible detour. If anyone knows, speak up!
Remember, this is a training ride. We are not out for blood. Let's warm up and settle into a comfortable pace. If you find yourself on the front of a pace line, maintain, don't accelerate. I expect there to be splits like usual, but I'd like to minimize this. If you are a stronger rider, take more time on the front, or offer to pace a slower rider up a climb. Save it up until RSF, and race up Del Dios after stud loop.
Be safe, have fun, and yes, those red things mean you must stop, no matter what. As always, my number is on the route slip if you have any problems during the ride.
See you Saturday.

Torrey Pines Bridge: Robert, I rode down the coast to Old town 2 weeks ago and all the former construction on Torrey Pines bridge has been completed. It's nice and smooth now and no issues (unless something has started back up in the last 2 weeks).
I hope to ride with you tomorrow but have a conflict I'm still working out.
