Title: Wednesday Morning - bike accident - hit & run
Post by: Margareth Demery on July 31, 2014, 10:39:28 AM
One of my guest riders was hit by a car yesterday just as the group was finishing our Wednesday morning ride.  Three of the riders were just about 1/2 block from the Coffee House in San Marcos, when a car veered into the bike lane hit Donna and continued driving on the curb and took off.... Lucky two witness saw this happen and one drove on to get the guy, was able to get photos of the car, license plate number and called 911. He kept on driving, rear-ended another vehicle and then ran several more cyclist off the road - no injuries. The police finally caught him in Carlsbad. Can't revoke his license because he doesn't have one, no drugs (illegal) or alcohol was involved, but has a history of long time prescription drug abuse. Will spend time in jail because of prior arrests MULTIPLE hit & run incidents.... Hmm, wonder if he has insurance?

Received updates from Donna this morning.  She is doing okay. Hairline fracture just below elbow in left arm, contusions, bruises and scrapes.... Thank goodness nothing too serious.  WOW! What a morning.

Please keep Donna in your prayers and send well wishes her way.
