I want to thank the Saturday long riders for making my duty as ride leader so enjoyable and such a breeze today. I wasn't sure how it would go at first, but at the food stop I realized that I had never ridden through Rancho Santa Fe with a more tame group of riders, having had absolutely no incidents on the way and hardly any wait/regroup stops. I do regret that the speedsters could not ride together with Terry's group; it's difficult to please everyone especially when ability levels are so varied.
It seems that at least for me, the best way to lead a ride is to be in tune with the group dynamic and not try to control things too much.
'Till next week when we tackle Camp Pendleton.
