Comrades!
A few things regarding the ride up to Palomar this coming Saturday. First off, those of you that don't want to go all the way up to the observatory be shunned. Just kiding, but you will be missing out. I would like the group to stick to a 15~17 mph pace and stay together until the first break at the Harrahs 7-11. No need to race up there and wear everyone out. Once on the climb, have at it. I would prefer to see everyone enjoy the ride and save the attrition for another time. If you are going all the way up, I suggest a quick stop at Mothers for water if needed. Regular sized bottles fit under the tap in the bathroom sink. It's the same stuff people pay a couple dollars a gallon for at the market. Take a nice break after the run up to the observatory before heading down.
Please check the route map if you have any concerns of questions. I may or may not provide route sheets. I feel it's not needed, but some people can't live without. I have the return trip routed on Lake Wohlford, but if anyone wishes to do so, feel free to continue through on VC Rd. Also, if anyone has a suggestion that might improve the route, let me know by Thursday night. There really is no good way to get through Escondido. Heading East in the morning, Mission shouldn't be too bad that we cannot go all the way through. It's two lanes most of the way, so with a good sized group, we can pile in and take one of them. On the return, we will probably take El Norte. I considered routing us on Woods Valley, but there is an event this weekend at Bates, so traffic will be a hassle.
Weather currently looks good. It will be chilly. Bring a jacket and mittens for the descent.

No route slips?
Suppose someone new shows up?
I have made some changes to the route to account for road closures due to the parade. Route slips will be available.

FYI The first accumulation of snow anywhere is San Diego County is directly proportional to visitors.
