Title: February 5 Alpine Sunday
Post by: Robert Abraham on January 24, 2017, 10:41:00 PM
Comrades!

My next monthly Sunday ride will be on February 5 out of Alpine. The route takes us East out of Alpine on Old Highway 80, then a few miles on the shoulder of I8. Next we will go flying down through Japatul Valley out to Dehesa Road, which will take us to Harbison Canyon. Turn off onto Francis Road and onto the Mountain View wall into La Cresta, and then return to Alpine on Old 80. It is important to know that there is minimal or no services for most of the route. Be prepared. Carry enough water and food to get you through the ride. Once again, we will be riding on 2 lane country roads, often with minimal or no shoulder, and possibly poor road surfaces in some areas.

I have the start location listed as the Starbucks in the shopping center on the east end of town. https://www.google.com/maps/@32.8337098,-116.7495988,18z?hl=en. This is where we will gather 5 minutes before departing. I suggest parking in the North West corner of the lot as a courtesy.

Please note that this ride will be subject the whims of the weather, and may be cancelled. It might be nice, it might be stupid cold, it might be monsoon rains.

Do it. You will have fun.

CORRECTION: there is a place to stop that I forgot about. So, there will be a break stop about halfway through to regroup and get water, etc.

Sorry all. I know this is last minute, but I just woke up and  am sick. I cannot ride today, especially this. If anyone shows to do the ride and has any questions, text or call me.
