Title: Tour of CA Stage 5
Post by: Jim Robinson on April 28, 2017, 09:30:28 PM
Hi all,  I'm planning to go up to see stage 5 of Tour of CA (Mt Baldy, May 18).   I know some of you did this 2 years ago.   The race starts in Ontario, up to Baldy village, then west for a GMR / East Fork loop and back to Baldy.   My plan is to ride up GMR from Glendora in the morning, and be on Glendora Ridge as they pass heading West.   Then hurry towards Mt Baldy to see them as near the finish as I can get.   Is this going to be possible?  I know roads will probably be closed, do they allow cyclists through?

I rode up Gibraltar last year with no problem but we went early before road closures.

Jim - Ride GMR past East Fork and continue on Glendora Ridge almost all the way to the village to watch them go up the little climb from the Village. After they go by, you should be able to descend to the Village and do the climb up to the ski lifts as we did 2 years ago. I hope there are no special closures that early this year.
