Title: Burt's British Columbia / West Coast Tour
Post by: karlos on November 04, 2017, 01:43:21 PM
Many of you who know Burt Reiff recall that he took off for 2 months last summer to ride his bike in full touring mode around British Columbia and then down the West Coast. Go to our Home page (http://northcountycycleclub.com) for the lead-in to the full article on our Feature Articles page (http://northcountycycleclub.com/web/index.php/articles). Burt captured each day with a slew of photos, a few words, and route details.
Thanks, Burt, for taking the time to share!

Thanks for your post on this, Karl.

Burt,
You are the personification of road bike touring studliness.  Chuck Norris level.

Reading about your 2,000+ mile epic tour of BC, Wash, Oregon, CA... was a pleasure.  The pictures are professional grade and gorgeous.  You took these yourself w/ an SLR on your trip?  Also, were you wearing your old sandal-cleats?  I looked at one pic, but couldn't tell.
Burt, you need to take me along on one of these trips, OK?  I'll fix a few flats for ya. Maybe, I'll even haul a few things for ya.  My camp cooking doesn't suck too badly, and I'm a very willing camp dishwasher man.  Bonus:  I don't snore, and I gave up yelling at motorists years ago.

Your photo journal was an inspiration, Burt!  Long may you reside in Valhalla.

Daniel - If you look closely at Burt's Day 36 photo, he wasn't wearing his sandals that day  8)

Daniel, Thanks for your kind words. I gave up wearing the sandals a few years back. I found them too heavy and stiff and less protection than mountain bike shoes. The camera was a Canon Powershot SX540. I lugged along a Surface Pro 4 laptop and spent a lot of time with PhotoShop Elements and writing the daily entries. Very glad you liked it.
