Title: New Bike Advice
Post by: Phil Daigneau on July 28, 2008, 10:02:32 PM
I just purchased a Trek 1.5, but need advice if I want to ride with this club on the Sat. rides should I upgrade to the Trek 2.1.  Is there that much difference.  New to biking and looking for some words of advice.

Thanks,

I've just looked at a Trek 1.5 on the net and it seems like a very good bike, although I've never riden one, and I'm sure it would be fine for the Saturday rides. Perhapse upgrade the pedals to the clip-in type and get some nice racing shoes. If you havn't already done so, get some good advice on saddle hight and general position on the bike. Upgrading your legs is would have a far greater influence on performance and would save you some dollars. Just don't ride at the front (too much) and save your energy for the climbs. And don't forget to drink plenty. Happy cycling!

nige is right... the legs are more important than the bike - have fun
