Bicycle Pedals Recalled by Performance Inc. Due to Fall Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the
firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following
consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products
immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or
attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of product: 2011 Fort? Pro Carbon Road Pedals
Units: About 2,900
Importer: Performance, Inc, of Chapel Hill, N.C.
Hazard: The pedal body can break or crack during use, causing the rider
to lose control and posing a fall hazard.
Description: Fort? Pro Carbon Road Pedals are sold in sets of two
bicycle pedals that attach to cycling shoes. The pedal body is black and
is made of lightweight carbon injected thermoplastic. The axle is a
black and made of chromium molybdenum steel with a black steel axle. The
front, top of the pedal has "Carbon" printed in red; the top middle has
"EPS-R" embossed in the body with the "R" in red and on the top rear of
the pedal the word "Fort?" printed in white. The outer edge of the pedal
has the Fort? logos, crossed F's, in white. The catalog number, 50-8128,
is used in all catalogs
