Club Rides & Events / Wednesday Clipper Ride Start
Last post by Smstewart - February 03, 2025, 06:27:05 PM
Wednesday Clipper ride starts from parking lot behind 'A Delight of France'.  Note that Grand Avenue (which the bakery faces) is closed for construction.  No problem accessing back parking lot.  Also, return route will have to take E. Second Street due to construction on West Valley Parkway.  Bakery seemed to have business as usual this morning.

Winds shifted overnight blowing the LA smoke right down to us. Here's the most up to date website showing air quality monitors.
https://map.purpleair.com/air-quality-standards-us-epa-aqi?opt=%2F1%2Flp%2Fa10%2Fp604800%2FcC0#7.5/33.217/-117.808/-19

For both air quality and fire information, wind directions too, download the Watch Duty app.
Stay safe and healthy out there. Since my last crash I'm grounded to the trainer but ROUVY has been a really good alternative since COVID first hit, I'll be back outside after our remodeling project is complete.

Hi Jon,
I'm subbing for Ken as the ride leader on Saturday. As I don't have rights to make changes yet, I can't change it. but Ken says he'll get the listing fixed. Check back shortly.

Club Rides & Events / Roadies 2/1/25

Hi,
the route says leader TBD, otherwise I would have just emailed that person directly...

The website says the Fairbanks & Solana B (GP) route for this Saturday starts at Grand Plaza.  But the Ride with GPS has the start point a bit to the north at Cerro de Las Posas Park.

which will it be?

thanks.

Just to be clear. The reference that Steve gives through the SD County Bike Coalition is for the full 9 hr course given by Pete Penseyres and Howard Lagrange in Oceanside. It is still a great course but many people have trouble with the time commitment and there is fluff in there that is wasted time for experienced riders. Nevertheless, I took the full 9 hrs and got a lot out of it. If people are interested in a repeat of the streamlined NCCC version, we may offer it again if there is a demand for it. Two ways to skin the cat.

my cyn. bike came with these wheels and i like them very much.
unfortunately, based on my experience, the deeper wheels are not stable in crosswinds.
