Non NCCC Cycling Info / Brazen Theft
Last post by Cody Barnes - April 21, 2025, 10:31:30 PM
Yesterday thieves stole about 65-70k worth of merchandise from the Big Bear Cycling Association out of two storage containers. Most of it was Tour de Big Bear merch including jerseys, shirts, hats, etc. Also included in the heist was banners for local sponsors. Unfortunately, as with most cycling clubs, the budget is extremely tight and did not include insurance. This is a pretty heavy loss for that club.
I'm posting here in case anyone comes across Tour de Big Bear or Big Bear Cycling Association gear being sold outside of the official channels. If so, the seller very likely is or knows who the thief. Our only real hope here is that this is highly identifiable stuff and just maybe the cycling community will recognize and report it.

Non NCCC Cycling Info / Re: Upcoming Tour de Big Bear!

I'm preparing for the 100. But I think this will be good for anyone doing the 70 also. I suspect that anyone already doing the usual weekly NCCC Rides that would be already ready for the 50.

Quote from: Cody Barnes on April 16, 2025, 10:29:35 PMI've done the TdBB twice now. It is an excellent and challenging event with a beautiful route! The elevation makes things a bit more difficult than here at sea level.

So, this year, I'm thinking of trying to get together a group of riders that are interested in preparing for this event as a group. This would probably be an "extension" ride after the regular roadies route each week that includes a few extra miles, some more climbing or some intervals. For some extra punishment, and for anyone that has time on a weekday, I'll also be doing Tuesday and/or Thursday rides starting at 4pm. This wouldn't be an official NCCC activity - at least until or if it is approved by the board. Anyone interested in this, please either post here or contact me from the roster. And anyone that has more experience than I in training plans (that's you), I'd be grateful for some help in planning this.

Cody--which ride is this preparation for?  25, 50, 70, or 100 miles?

Club Rides & Events / 2025 Giro Di San Diego GranFon...

Howdy NCCC Folks,

I have done this ride a few times and always enjoyed it.
They have 20, 30, 59 and 95 mile courses and it's on June 7th, 2025.

I took the liberty of creating a "North County Cycle Club" team and I think if you go to this link you won't need to do anything further to join it: https://endurancecui.active.com/event-reg/select-race?e=92648012&i=cfb93a2d-5027-4e6f-9a7a-1cbe98166b18.

If there is some issue, enter "North County Cycle Club" as the team name and the password is "nccctopsecret123".

Finally, I don't know how long it will last but last night I saved ~$30 with code "jersey2025" (and I did not buy the jersey). The price also goes up in 7 days. So far I have gotten Cody Barnes to sign up and we plan to wear our NCCC jersey gear to rep the club. Come join us!

Cheers,
Mike Reeves
