I'm preparing for the 100. But I think this will be good for anyone doing the 70 also. I suspect that anyone already doing the usual weekly NCCC Rides that would be already ready for the 50.

Quote from: Cody Barnes on April 16, 2025, 10:29:35 PMI've done the TdBB twice now. It is an excellent and challenging event with a beautiful route! The elevation makes things a bit more difficult than here at sea level.

So, this year, I'm thinking of trying to get together a group of riders that are interested in preparing for this event as a group. This would probably be an "extension" ride after the regular roadies route each week that includes a few extra miles, some more climbing or some intervals. For some extra punishment, and for anyone that has time on a weekday, I'll also be doing Tuesday and/or Thursday rides starting at 4pm. This wouldn't be an official NCCC activity - at least until or if it is approved by the board. Anyone interested in this, please either post here or contact me from the roster. And anyone that has more experience than I in training plans (that's you), I'd be grateful for some help in planning this.

Cody--which ride is this preparation for?  25, 50, 70, or 100 miles?

Club Rides & Events / 2025 Giro Di San Diego GranFon...

Howdy NCCC Folks,

I have done this ride a few times and always enjoyed it.
They have 20, 30, 59 and 95 mile courses and it's on June 7th, 2025.

I took the liberty of creating a "North County Cycle Club" team and I think if you go to this link you won't need to do anything further to join it: https://endurancecui.active.com/event-reg/select-race?e=92648012&i=cfb93a2d-5027-4e6f-9a7a-1cbe98166b18.

If there is some issue, enter "North County Cycle Club" as the team name and the password is "nccctopsecret123".

Finally, I don't know how long it will last but last night I saved ~$30 with code "jersey2025" (and I did not buy the jersey). The price also goes up in 7 days. So far I have gotten Cody Barnes to sign up and we plan to wear our NCCC jersey gear to rep the club. Come join us!

Cheers,
Mike Reeves

Great post Steve!   They also have a pretty nice Gravel Ride option of 25 or 50 miles.   I have a conflict this year or it would likely be on my ride list.

If you've never ridden in the Big Bear area, it's a nice change from the usual city riding.
And, if you've never ridden the Tour de Big Bear, you've missed the clean air, scenic mountain
routes, great food stops, and a fun time. This year, NCCC has a group discount (10%), so the
first ten peeps who are ready to register get them (mailto:nc3pres@northcountycycleclub.org and please
no sharing of the code via social media. Requests have to go through me). We will
also contend with other groups for the "Craig's Crown Award," which gives prominent recognition
to the club with the greatest number of riding members.

Dates:  August 1-3, 2025. Come for the day or weekend (ride = Saturday)
Ride options:  25/50/75/100 miles; e-bike/gravel/mtn. bike options.
Registrationhttps://tourdebigbear.com/overview/ (when you get to the registration #2 team area, don't forget to "join a team" and click on NCCC)

Hope to see you there!
