Club Rides & Events / Roadies 2/1/25
Last post by jonpenner - January 30, 2025, 02:00:53 PM
Hi,
the route says leader TBD, otherwise I would have just emailed that person directly...

The website says the Fairbanks & Solana B (GP) route for this Saturday starts at Grand Plaza.  But the Ride with GPS has the start point a bit to the north at Cerro de Las Posas Park.

which will it be?

thanks.

Just to be clear. The reference that Steve gives through the SD County Bike Coalition is for the full 9 hr course given by Pete Penseyres and Howard Lagrange in Oceanside. It is still a great course but many people have trouble with the time commitment and there is fluff in there that is wasted time for experienced riders. Nevertheless, I took the full 9 hrs and got a lot out of it. If people are interested in a repeat of the streamlined NCCC version, we may offer it again if there is a demand for it. Two ways to skin the cat.

my cyn. bike came with these wheels and i like them very much.
unfortunately, based on my experience, the deeper wheels are not stable in crosswinds.

Six members took advantage of the streamlined Smart Cycling course recently. Some of them took it to serve as ride leaders as well. Since all are experienced riders, they earned their diploma with about 2 hours online on their own time, a one hr Zoom to go over some local and group specifics, with the road session and drills running only 3 hours on a Sunday - no Saturday ride interruption to students or instructors. Bob Hanlon and I may offer this again in the future to get even more NCCC members on board (currently about 20% of NCCC have gone through the course).

Congratulations Pat Murray, Cody Barnes, Frank Wheeler, Howard Garfinkel, Melonee Levine, Rob Brown!

Wed Clippers, sorry but I found a gap in the start/finish of tomorrow's ride.  Have corrected it under a new route name starting at the usual place; Grand Plaza.  Changed just a couple blocks at beginning and end of ride.  Please check website for latest route.  Sorry of the inconvenience.

Website / Change to NCCC Forum URL
Last post by karlos - January 20, 2025, 04:55:46 PM
For consistency across the NCCC website, the primary URL for the NCCC Forum has dropped the obsolete "www" prefix and is now simply https://northcountycycleclub.org/smf. For those who stay logged in to the NCCC Forum, the "cookie" that persists your login will need to be refreshed, so you will be asked to login again if you want to post or reply on our Forum. If you login "Forever" you will remain logged in as before. Please clear your browser cache to remove all obsolete www.northcountycycleclub.org references.

If you have difficulty logging into the NCCC Forum, refer to this post on our Website Board or email admin@northcountycycleclub.org for extra help.

Remember that to login to the NCCC Forum, you have the same username and password that you created for your membership renewals. The NCCC Forum and the membership portal are linked by your credentials, but they are different software systems. It is always good to be logged out of the membership system except when you login yearly to renew via https://northcountycycleclub.org > Member > Renew.
