There will be a "Ride in Support of Juan Carlos Viñolo".   Juan Carlos is fighting for his life after being very seriously injured in the horrific crash on Fiesta Island this week.  He has lost a kidney and is paralyzed from the chest down.  Please forward this to all bicycle clubs and organizations in the San Diego area.  We need a huge turnout.

Where: Fiesta Island
Day: Tuesday, August 19
Time: 5:45pm

Note from Joel:
"Juan Carlos Viñolo remains hospitalized in critical condition from our Tuesday night ride. Juan Carlos was one of several cyclists hit by a suspected DUI driver at Fiesta Island. Juan Carlos sustained the most serious injuries, among the group. The ride is a good way to show support for Juan Carlos and his family. He has two children, ages 4 and 6. "

Ride Details
* Fiesta Island (Meet at the entrance of the Youth Camp and the Aquatic Center)
* 5:45p meet, 6:00p roll
* Two laps
* Moderate to slow pace
* Avoid riding more than two abreast
* Bring a friend - All cyclist welcome (road, tri, mountain, beach cruiser, etc.)

See you on Tuesday...
A fundraising account has been set up to raise money for Juan Carlos: http://www.gofundme.com/d1nuf8
* Note: I’m not administering the GoFundMe account. However a family member confirmed authenticity.

If you have a Facebook account you can "join" the event at the following link, but it's not required, of course.  It does help spread the word. https://www.facebook.com/events/1473681292887011

More than 1,000 cyclists turned up, including NCCC'rs Tony Long, Nerius Landys, Richard Duquette. There may have been more, but it was hard to see everybody. This was one of the lead stories on all the local news channels.

Karl,

Thanks for posting the info about the ride on the website.  It was good to see all the riders out there in support of the injured cyclists.
