Hi, I'm relatively new to cycling, not in very good shape (strength yes, stamina no), and I'm pretty sure that what I need is a group of people to ride with who are just as slow and inept as I am. I live in Escondido, so the NCCC seemed like the place to start. I have a number of obstacles to overcome in order to succeed in this endeavor, so I apologize in advance if it sounds like I'm a whiner, but I could really use some help breaking out of this poor health rut. Thanks!

Hi Martha,
I would start by looking at the Cruisers page and even giving our president, Peg Demery, a call (her phone # is listed there) to chat as she is the ride leader extraordinaire for the Cruisers. There are also plenty of rides available on the Roadies page - one of the Regular sub-groups might be best for starters. We have some amazing success stories of people taking up cycling and becoming fanatics, while at the same time improving health and shedding unneeded weight. Main thing is, you can have fun riding at the same time, so it's not like a boring gym workout.

Thanks Martha for the super updates.  Looking forward to meeting you.  Have sent you an email with updates as well.

Ride Safe,
~Peg

Thanks everybody! Peg, I got your email, thanks! I wasn't able to follow up on your suggestion this past week, but maybe this week will bring more freedom. If nothing else, I hope to meet some of you at Bike the Coast on Nov 1. I'm riding the 25 mile course with my family!

Thanks,
Martha
