Recycle your used tubes

Ever tried to recycle used tubes? I have had trouble dumping tubes off at local bike shops. Does anyone know a North County bike shop that does this? If not, there is a local San Diego company, SPLAFF (see https://sites.google.com/site/splaffretailsite) which will turn your tubes into all kinds of good stuff.
