Have you ever seen the Challenged Athletes Foundation annual SD Tri Challenge?  We have seen Robin Williams and others on the cycling leg. Here is a chance to watch some of the inspiring action at the transition area - beautiful La Jolla Cove. Pedal to the Park is hosting a 10 mile ride to the Cove, picnic lunch (your choice from event vendors), 10 mile ride back - on Sunday 28 Oct 07.  There is NO FEE for this ride.  We will be supporting a group of cyclists with disabilities on this ride, so need volunteer single bike buddies and tandem captains (with or without tandems). Or, simply come along and enjoy the outing.  All information is posted at http://pedaltothepark.com or email Dave White at p2park@san.rr.com

Hi Everyone,

Our own team member Dan O. will be doing the cycling leg of the CAF Tri for Team Scope.  I'll be on "domestic" duties.  It's a really great inspirational event and these challenged athletes are unbelievable.  World Class athletes. Come on down to the cove on the 28th.

Dan

Hi gang.
I think the entire club should domistique for me. Michelle is terrible at it. She drops me on all the hills and sucks my wheel on the flats. ;D
A few years ago Michelle dropped Robin Williams and his entourage on the first climb out of LaJolla Cove. As she went by Robin shouted (the only way he can) bit*h.
Michelle turned around and politely said to the group, "if you lard butts lost a little weight you could climb too". Robin later apologized to Michelle.
Hope to see some of you there. Many of these challenged athletes are unbelievable. Not even sure why I get invited.
Dan

With less than ideal conditions for long and hilly training rides, how about considering a "therapeutic" alternative on Sunday.  You can help a cyclist of less ability to enjoy the simple pleasures of cycling.  We need tandem captains for blind and visually impaired youth, and single bike-buddies for others. The ride is leisurely pace and 10 miles in length, to a special destination - the CAF Triathlon Challenge. We will picnic at the Cove and enjoy the action before returning on a 10 mile return leg. Contact Dave White at p2park@san.rr.com for information or to confirm participation. Information post is at pedaltothepark.com
