Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have been to Iraq three times and Afghanistan once but I am not a four star general or a politician.  Guess what though, niether are any of you.  Some of the comments I have received in relation to the military, from members of this club, have been completely disrespectful and honestly very cowardly.  Please stick to your job and I will stick to mine, or please just move to another country.

I know everyone has their views and opinions but please use common sense and basic respect when you talk to people.

Thank You

Lou

Hello Phil-Ray
Are you sure that you are riding with NCCC? There are quite a few veterans that ride with us. I served in the Marine Corps ('71-'78). Also, being from north county we attract a lot of retired/active military and military dependants from Camp Pendleton, Mira Mar and the surrounding area.
Specifically, what was said and who were you talking to? Now if the discussion is about the politics of this country, then everyone is entitled to their own opinion. That is what you are serving for. If you do not agree with what is being said, then ride away from them.
Believe me. You have no idea what it is like to be disrespected when you are serving your country by volunteering for military service. Try wearing your uniform when you are going home in the early '70s. And by the way, you live in the San Francisco bay area.

Thank you for your service. Enjoy your Veteran's Day with a ride.

Hi Phil-Ray, Lou, et Al,

I'm pretty sure that's me...

Phil-Ray, I'll apologize to you in person when next we meet but allow me to say here publicly that I sincerely apologize for any offense that my comments gave.  I hope you'll take the time with me to explain what offended you and why so that I may avoid doing so in the future.

At the very least, I hope you'll continue coming to the club rides and and not allow one loudmouthed jerk (me) steer you somewhere else.

And, with respect to Lou, I believe there are those serving contemporarily that have known and have experienced disrespect for their uniform and their service.  It was not my intent to do so, but there it is.

Sincerely Phil-Ray, I'm sorry.

Best regards,
  Ron

Well it could have been me also. No disrespect meant and I'm sorry it was taken that way. I was discussing politics which is the leadership of the country, not the military as they are courageous and are doing their job. We have to be able to express our feelings and I respect others rights to disagree with mine or others. Phil, thank you for your service and I hope your feelings don't prevent you from enjoying the club rides.
