B GROUP LONG RIDERS

Are you a B-LONG RIDER?????

I just can't keep up with the long riders anymore and I always fall off the back and unfortunately, hold up the group. So, I am looking for others that want to ride the long ride at a slightly slower pace than the current A-LONG RIDERS. My mission is to ride at a moderate pace finishing the rides at a 14-16 MPH average pace for the entire ride. The long rides have been averaging 16-18 MPH.

I am not the ride leader, it is not another ride, it is not an official club sanctioned thing, just a rider looking for other like minded riders that want to ride the long ride as a group. Anthony is the ride leader and nothing changes except the establishment of a slightly slower group that wants to ride as a group.

So do you B-LONG?

Please let me know if there is any interest in a unofficial B-LONG Group.

Thanks for bringing this up as I am sure their are a few out there who have been thinking the exact same thing.  I would be interested.

I like the idea, it might increase my participation from never to sporadic. It could work particularly well on rides where a shortcut is available, as I see is done by Saturday regulars.

Don, come on out anytime and see if it works for you.  The routes are posted and you can see what shortcut or exit works best for you but "official" options as is done for the regulars won't be created and psoted.
Best,
Anthony

Hi, I would be interested on occasion.   How would I find the "slow B" group?  Is there a particular meeting place?

Jim,
The Long Riders basically meet in the middle of the parking lot of Restaurant Row.  The Regular Riders meet closer to the restaurants on the eastern end.  Just ask someone when you are there and they will point you in the right direction.

HI,  I had thought that Diana S. had established a slower paced format sometime ago?  I believe Her ride departs a half hour later on average then the traditional faster paced long ride?  This departure time however, my not work for some of you.  Another alternative, would be to ride with the regular riders, as they generally keep a slower pace, and establish a ride slip with a longer sub-loop to for those riders looking for greater distance at a more moderate pace, and at the same 8 AM start time.

B GROUP LONG RIDERS sounds great to me, as long as it isn't done by attrition. Let's form up as a distinct group in the parking lot starting tomorrow, the 28th, at 8:00 AM

I am interested.  I did the "A" ride on Saturday and finished alone about an hour later.  Want to work on fitness and speed but B Riders sound good for now!  How can I find you on Saturday or Sunday?

Rick and all,

B Group status------While there is some level of interest in a B-Long Group, there is not enough interest (at this time) to formalize a group and make it official. While the A pace is often very quick it partially depends on the mood of the group each week and at times it can be a more manageable pace.

So what does that mean?

That means that hopefully, each week a B Group will organically form on it's own.  I will continue to attend the long ride but, at some point during the ride,  I will be riding at a slower pace with no expectation of the A's to wait for me.

Please keep in mind my prior pace explanation with an overall finishing average of of 14-16 MPH. I will not be riding at a leisurely pace, nor finish at the faster A's pace. I will be starting with the A's until the pace ramps up or the hills come a call'in and then I will fall into the B-grouppetto.

Sean,
Thanks for taking the initiative to communicate your thoughts. I definitely fall within the B category and think the organic approach may appeal to or encourage a 14-16 mph bunch.

Hi, old topic, but I wonder if a regular long B group has formed?  I'm never going to average 16-18 on a long ride in these parts, but really like the "long" routes.

For those that like distance, but not the SPEED... check out the Cruiser Long Ride Schedule posted every month on the "Cruiser Menu".  We depart at 8:30 a.m. usually from  Restaurant row unless otherwise posted.

This Saturday we will be doing a Century ride departing from Oceanside harbor at 7:00 am or 7:30 am - if you are interested send me an email - nc3pres@northcountycycleclub.com or call 760.822.4612
