Hi everybody,

After the club ride on Saturday I was cleaning up the bike and found a new 2" crack (split) in my left side chainstay. (I heard some unusual sounds during the ride but could not figure out what was causing it)  It is a titanium frame, purchased second hand thus no warranty.  Has anybody here ever had a Ti frame repaired?  Maybe know of a shop that can do this kind of work? I have searched the internet without much luck. Maybe just suck it up and get a new frame?

Thanks, T

Bill Holland builds custom titanium frames and is located in Spring Valley.  I was in his shop recently and he had a Seven and in for repair.

I would think that even second hand a titanium bike should be bomb proof and it should be covered under warranty even if you are not the original owner.

You can give him a call and ask him if he can fix it.

I would also try the manufacturer.

Oh.. by the way raleigh.. Since you said you might suck it up and buy a new ti bike.. I did a test ride on one of Bill Hollands this weekend and it was awesome..

a process called Exogrid...  Carbon on the inside.. Ti outside...

Here are some pictures of the ride.

Don't bother looking anywhere else. Take it to Bill Holland. No one else even comes close.

Thanks,  I had already talked to Bill Holland about the repair...it does seem like he is the guy to go see in San Diego.  There is still quite a bit of expense and time required for this job and I am not sure I like the frame enough to invest it.  I know...that is a decision only I can make.  Maybe get a low cost replacement for now and fix the Ti later.  Still might go by Litespeed Dealer and see what they have to say...you never know???
