Spring Century options

Comrades!

In anticipation of the century ride this Spring, I have be thinking about a new route. However, in planning, it ends up being all the same old stuff we ride all the time, or it ends up being something that a lot of you might not enjoy as much as myself. So, I feel that we should stick with the Santa Ysabel route. It is a route that most of us know and love. I'm planning on mid- May.

However, there has also been some talk of something easier. Maybe a relaxed, social ride type of route. Stop for coffee a few times and take pictures. So, I also am considering a coastal option that will take us to San Juan Capistrano. This route is nice for several reasons. It is easy. It makes for a good social ride. It allows riders to bail out and get on the train halfway through if they cannot commit. Also, there is tasty BBQ for lunch. The route does use I5, which in my experience, is safer and easier than going through the base. On the downside, it uses some separated paths that can get busy. As an added bonus,I will ride my single speed.

And then there is a third and favored option, which is to do both. Santa Ysabel in May and Capistrano in April or late June. I might also come up with a most amazing super century route for the monthly Sunday ride I lead. So, give me some feedback.

Rob,

I think both routes would be great. Doing a Leisure Coastal Century in April will get some of us Regular Riders prepared for the traditional Santa Isabel Century in May.  There is also chat about squeezing in the De Luz Adventure, as well.  We will definitely chat over the next few weeks.
