Since club rides are suspended and we're riding solo, I and the San Diego County Bike Coalition would like you to include your rides with the Love to Ride program. It's simple to sign up at https://www.lovetoride.net/sandiegocounty?locale=en-US. To log your rides if you use Strava, you just connect to your Strava account and it logs automatically. NOTHING to do once you're in. For those of you who have attended local bicycling legend Gordy Shields Memorial Ride in the past, you can set a mileage goal for this Sunday May 3, which is when that group ride was planned this year. Log your (solo) ride for that day and you're eligible to win a prize. EZ-PZ. A little more info on the Gordy event is at https://sdbikecoalition.org/event/gordy-shields-memorial-ride-3/

There will also be prizes awarded during the whole month of May, our traditional Bike Month: https://sdbikecoalition.org/event/love-to-ride-may-national-bike-challenge/

If you are new to Love To Ride, this is a reported way to easily link to your Strava account from Serge Issakov, San Diego Bike Club:
1) start creating an account on LTR
2) choose option to connect via Strava
3) observe opportunity to login to Strava. Ignore it.
4) open new tab and login to Strava as normal
5) observe request to connect to LTR in this new tab.  Say yes.
6) go back to LTR; you're in

It may seem odd to ignore in step 3, but Strava also changed its relationship for linking to Relive, so the LTR<-->Strava handshake may have changed.

We also created a "North County Cycling Club" group within Love To Ride. If you are logged into your LTR, just go to https://www.lovetoride.net/usa/group_signups/new?locale=en-US and Join this club by entering North County ... in the search box. Our NCCC group page on LTR is at https://www.lovetoride.net/sandiegocounty/groups/2519?locale=en-US

Potentially, NCCC could actually win prizes during special events or even yearly prizes. When I first heard of this a couple of years ago, I thought "no way do I need another bike-related social media thing." This one's a no-brainer, because if you're a Strava regular, you never even login to LTR and frankly just forget about it ... until your group or you get some kind of prize (random draw) or recognition.

This time it actually supports our local San Diego County Bicycle Coalition via grants for participating.

Normally I would post this under non-NCCC Cycling Info, but given COVID-19, I thought this would be something the whole club could engage in.

Folks - especially those who record on Strava. We only have 4 members in the Love To Ride North County Cycle Club. Yet, in the Groups vs Groups category across the entire USA, we currently are ranking 14th during Bike Month. It's easy to join and your Strava data for the last 30 days will be imported. I know we have a bunch of regular big mileage gals and guys, so how cool would it be to get to #1 nationwide? We can do it, I bet.

We now have FIVE members in our group. It's EZ if you do Strava. We already are the top mileage club in the San Diego region with must 5 out of our ~200 members. We can KILL this and maybe even get nationwide honors. Let's show everyone that we indeed love to ride our bikes  ;)
