Saturday Regular Ride changes

Comrades!

I'm sure most of you know that Jeff has handed over leadership duties for the Saturday regular ride. I will be taking over as the main ride leader for the next two months. Lou Medina and Lisa Ruby will be working to schedule and lead rides as well. Our goal is to keep things more or less the same as Jeff has done in the past. Something new that we are working on is trimming it down to one route, rather than three, that will have a few "bonus" sections, such as an extra climb or loop off of the main route. Next month will see a few new routes, likely a regular and similar but extended, bonus route. Most of the routes that Jeff has been using the past few years will be kept in rotation. We will continue to keep routes planned out for the month, have route slips, and do the pre-ride jibber jabber.

Club Century series - I will be leading this next year. The century route we did last year was very well regarded, provided a challenging yet fair and rewarding course that took us out to some roads that many do not normally ride. I would like to use something like it again for 2014, but I plan to try and move the date up in hopes that we can get some cooler weather. My plan for the series is to try and fit the rides in every three weeks, instead of one each month. The 90 mile Palomar route will be dropped, but possibly reserved as a separate special ride.

As I said, I will be leading rides to finish out the year. In January, brevet season starts. Because of my commitments to the sport of randonneuring and related personal goals, I will be missing at least one, likely two Saturdays each month from January to June of 2014. Which means Lou and Lisa will be leading rides as much as I. Hopefully by then, things will be settled. Most likely, you will not noticed any changes at all, with the exception of a lot less "hike-a-bike" and fence hoping.  ;D

Good night, and good luck.
