Comrades!

It's time again to start thinking about our annual club century. I am willing to plan and lead the ride again for 2015 if there is interest in such an endeavor. Probably an April or May date. I feel that most all of you are perfectly capable of riding a century, and a few of you will have probably done one or two by then. I am not going to plan any "training series" rides, so I recommend that you train on your own, or maybe join the long riders once a month. The big question right now is what route shall we do? What do you want to do? I know what I want to do, but I'm also trying to be fair and accommodate everyone. I'm working on a few possible routes that I will reveal in the coming months. Right now I'm looking for interest and ideas. In planing the routes, I will include water stops and a nice lunch break around halfway.

I'm still planning to host a club century. I'm looking at May 2 for the date of the ride. Linked here are 3 routes I have in mind. Two are something I've put together that might be fun, and the third is the Santa Ysabel route that I'm very fond of and am considering using that again this year. Guys, let me know what you think.

Nice routes Robert. The Mesa Grande ride will be scorching hot in May and there probably will be a lot of RV traffic on the 76 + 78. I'd ride it in November, December or January.

As a guy, I'll let you know what I think Robert, as per your instructions (but some gals might want to chime in too).
+like on the Santa Ysabel.

Even though I feel like we need to do something different this year, I really do want to plan for the Santa Ysabel route again. It's such a nice route and gets a lot of the riders out to areas they don't frequent. I do recall everyone having a good time last year.

I love all the ideas, but I'll be doing the Breathless Agony on May 2nd . . . You can always come join if you want :-)

The plan in mind is the Santa Ysabel route on April 25th, probably a 7 AM start time.

Comrades -

Right now, the weather is supposedly clearing and it will be warmer tomorrow. HOWEVER. Current forecasts for Santa Ysabel around the time we'll get there call for a 25% chance of rain, 50, and gusting winds. Tomorrow morning I will be there at the start and we can make a decision. If the weather looks good and everyone is willing, we'll go. If there's only a handful of us and it looks bad out east, I shall re schedule the ride for May. I want everyone to enjoy this ride so I'm hoping for good sky.

Things happen. That's life. What the heck.

Thanks Robert for leading a great ride today. Although the rain and cold on Mesa Grande to Santa Ysabel is certainly not for everybody, I definitely had a blast (despite having no legs today) with the other fifteen guys and gals. Apple pie and hot chocolate at Julian Pie Co did wonders for our spirits.

Thank you everyone who showed up to ride. It was great fun. Cold, rain, wind, pie and coffee - everything a good bike ride needs. Since it was so much fun, if all the no-shows desire, we can plan for it again in a couple weeks.
