Safe Route to Work

I recently relocated and am looking for a safe cycling route to Camp Pendleton (Del Mar Gate) from Canyon Creek (Escondido).  I drive Gopher Canyon / E. Vista Way / 76, but Gopher Canyon doesn't appear bike friendly.  If anyone knows of a safer alternative I would appreciate the information.

Correction, that would be Castle Creek.
