I just moved to San Diego and I'm looking for a road bike to commute to UCSD with. I'm in unfamiliar territory both in the cycling world and in San Diego. Does anyone have advice on places to shop/look for good (but not expensive) used road bikes? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks everyone,

Go see Joe Morgan at Performance Bikes in Oceanside.

??? Tim-By saying you are in unfamiliar territory with cycling, I have to assume you won't be sleeping with your bike as most of us do. Depending on where you live and where you expect to take your cycling future, you may wan't to look into a bike that is designed specifically for commuting as apposed to the conventional drop-handled road bike. You have some climbing up to the campus and what you need to carry can be a factor in your decision. By all means, go talk to Joe at Performance or Andy at Alan's Bike Shop, both in Oceanside. Both shops are very active in taking care of a lot of riders in NCCC and are patronized by a lot of club members. Come out and hob-nob with us on Saturday morn. You'll get plenty of educated, real world opinions. Check the website for all the details. Welcome to San Diego.
