A section of 101 will be closed this Sunday for a marathon.  The closure starts at La Costa I think and goes north from there.

So if you live south of there (like me) don't plan on riding to the start of this Sunday's ride unless you want to ride the hilly El Camino Real.

Thanks for the heads up, Nerius. Frank also mentioned that last Sunday. As an alternative start, there is a parking lot, east of the tunnel at Oceanside Harbor which other rides have used as a start. Some of us can drive there. Others who live in the area can figure out how to get there on their bikes. I will put a Google map link under Ride Start Directions later this evening.

I just noticed that Jefferson is closed for construction between Marron Rd. and Los Flores. I assume it will be open after the marathon.

Frank

The harbor parking lot address is 400 Riverside Dr, Oceanside 92054.

Jefferson will be closed for six months for a sewer line replacement project.  http://www.nctimes.com/news/local/carlsbad/carlsbad-project-closes-jefferson-street/article_f7220115-0c2b-5dfc-b793-5f8a01146ce0.html

Good to have someone who works for the city of O'side in the club. Never would have figured either of those details out, Frank. Thanks (you deserve more than coal in your stocking...)

Can someone tell me how much of 101 will be closed on Sunday morning?
I might want to ride to the start but want to know which roads I should be taking (from Solana Beach).
I didn't think 101 would be closed all the way to Carlsbad Village.

One other time (again, bad Sunday luck) we had a different ride planned to go on 101 during a Carlsbad event - either this same marathon or a triathlon. That time we could not ride in either lane on Hwy 101 between Avenida Encinas (and maybe it was even south of there, too) and Carlsbad Village as the route had both southbound and northbound runners at the same time. We actually had to take a circuitous route east of I5 and make a loop back to 101. You will need to check the actual event map, Nerius, if you're really trying to go all the way up 101. I'm taking my car to Oceanside Harbor to avoid any unplanned hiccups.
